How to increase your capacity to make positive change
Alan AtKisson, an ISSP “Sustainability Hall of Famer,” and Axel Klimek, a senior change-management consultant and leadership coach from Germany, have together written a crisp, concise, and reflective guide to making change that goes beyond the ordinary. In Parachuting Cats into Borneo, they give special attention to the problems faced by sustainability change-makers, as they explain how to recognize habitual patterns of thinking and “change your beliefs regarding change.” Using a unique “café” style of writing, they provide tools and techniques, but also pose reflective questions that will help you move beyond the usual roadblocks to change, using improved systems thinking.

Alan AtKisson
Alan AtKisson is a senior advisor and author in the field of sustainability, sustainable development, and transformative change, with nearly 30 years of international experience. He consults to governments, leading companies, global NGOs, and the United Nations. Alan’s books include the bestseller Believing Cassandra: An optimist looks at a pessimist’s world, The Sustainability Transformation, and Sustainability is for Everyone, and Parachuting Cats into Borneo (co-authored with Axel Klimek).
Alan is President and CEO of AtKisson Group (founded 1992), an international consulting network with representatives in Asia, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and North America. Since 2009, Alan has also consulted to the UN Secretariat and multiple UN entities, in his role as an Independent Advisor. Alan was inducted into the international Sustainability Hall of Fame in 2013
Axel Klimek
Axel Klimek is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Center for Sustainability Transformation. Axel has worked in more than 25 different countries on 4 continents, and within a wide spectrum of contexts; helping leaders, organizations, and developmental programs manage complex change processes and improve their performance. Recently he also began assisting national-level change programs. His clients have included the African Union Commission, Canon Europe, Levis, EY, PWC, GIZ, Lufthansa, Unilever, and T-Systems.
Axel’s practice is centered upon helping clients achieve sustainability through change processes, innovation, cooperation, strategic planning, change management, and building a coaching culture. One of his main areas of focus is on how sustainability can be integrated into the value chain of an organization to become a habitual part of consciousness; informing decision-making processes, and the actions of leaders, managers, and staff members.
